The birthplace of Picasso is as colourful as an artist’s palette, from the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea to the golden sun, which gives 300 days of sunshine per year. When the sun sets, the vibrant nightlife awakens and you’ll find your place amongst the youthful square of the old centre, the trendy bars of La Malagueta or on one of the terraces of Pedregalejo.
There's also rich history underneath the sun and fun. Alcazaba is a Moorish castle from the 11th century and just next to it are the remnants of a Roman Theatre. The white stone tower of the Malaga Cathedral rises up in the heart of the city centre, and offers an interesting respite from sun bathing on the magnificent and popular beaches.
A more modern history can be appreciated by visiting the birthplace of Picasso and a museum full of exhibitions by Malaga’s most famous resident. A more relaxed Spanish city than Madrid and Barcelona, Malaga is still the gateway to the Costa del Sol and the busy Malaga Airport is only 10 km from the centre of town.
From budget hostels to 5-star luxury hotels, with Booking.com you’re sure to find the perfect accommodation for your sunny holiday.

Nice city, clean streets, nice to walk thru, not to small, not to big, lots of restaurants, terrific place to have breakfast (go to La Flor Negra), Sea& beach at walking distance. Our stay was 5 min. away from the touristic centre. We were there for 6 day's (5 nights). 1 or 2 day's less is also enough to visit Malaga unless you want to visit the surroundings.

Malaga is a wonderful city with so much history.
Malaga is a wonderful city with so much history. Have been flying here for more than 40 years but often passed through to another destination until about 15 years ago when we discovered the draw of this city. It has everything. Beaches and chiringuitos, city experiences, great tapas and restaurants generally, a market to challenge the one in Barcelona, plenty of Picasso , galleries and museums, shopping, pedestrian streets, a wonderful cathedral and architecture generally, a regenerated port area which is worth spending a day visiting. Lots to do: live free music often, flamenco, street entertainers, boat trips around the bay and harbour, great wines .... we had better stop or there will be too many visitors.

Loved wandering the streets and seeing the various sites around the city, we were there in May so didnt have too many issues getting into the sites. I would advise going as early as possible though to avoid the cruise ship tours. We ate out every night and thoroughly enjoyed every meal. Getting to the city from the airport was quick and easy using the bus, we also did a day trip to Ronda on the bus which was a fantastic day.

Malaga is a very nice city to visit and see the innercity of Midevil history but as well you are close enough to beaches where you can soak your feet or have great food and drinks at the harbor. There is a mixed of adult activities. It is not pricy so there are many options to eat on a budget.

I absolutely loved Malaga.
I absolutely loved Malaga. This was my first visit, and this city was perfect for me. Compact, clean and nice, not too crowded (May/June), very nice city beach (La Malagueta). The choice of good local affordable food is almost overwhelming. Lively but not stressful atmosphere.
Must sees for my preferences was the food market (Mercado central de Atarazanas), the arab fortress Alcazaba and Castillo de Gibralfaro, the beach, the old town itself and the Museo del Automóvil y la Moda de Málaga. There are plenty more, and the list of museums will keep you busy for several visits.
Also it does not feel too touristy, the Spanish speaking crowd seem to well outweigh foreigners and you are more likely to be addressed in Spanish than any other languages most of the time, but think you will get by by only English too

Our Hotel was in the old town.
Our Hotel was in the old town. The view from our room was of the old roofs and nearby churches. We felt like residents and the town was much more interesting than I had expected. The population were very disciplined and there was no litter and hardly any Graffiti.
It is a beautiful apartment. Better in real life than in the photos. All rooms have air conditioning and the apartment is centrally located near Malaga attractions. An easy 15 minute walk to the beach, 10 minutes to the airport bus and less than 10 minutes to the old town.
Friendly hosts and the apartment was extremely clean and had amenities like washing machine, washing lines, and cooking equipment if needed. The host provided us with some initial water, juices and Nespresso coffee :)
I chose this hotel because of the proximity with the airport as we had an early departure from Malaga. But there was so much construction they advised their patrons to not walk to the airport. No shuttle service and taxi was high for such a short ride. They provide you with an early continental breakfast and coffee starting at 4 am. Very helpful for early flights. Very quiet room in spite of airport, interstate and road construction. Huge open air mall close by, Plaza Mayor.
The hotel is central to the shopping and old town of Malaga, 10 minutes from railway station and 20 minutes from airport, both by taxi. The reception, bar and restaurant staff were wonderful, with a special treat waiting in our room when we got back to it at night. I think the room we had may have been an upgrade as it was on the Essence floor (5) and the room was one of the best we have stayed in. Probably exaggerating a little but the bed was as big as a football pitch.
Great location in lovely Malaga. Directly opposite beach, with restaurants and a small supermarket nearby. Well equipped modern kitchen and comfy beds. Easy to find and collect the keys. Aircon in the living room with fans in the bedrooms. About 10 mins walk to old town and the harbour with Pompidou centre. Walk up to the castle for great views of the city (though it’s quite a trek so don’t do in the heat)Old town is fabulous with loads of great restaurants.
Great location for exploring Malaga and the old town. Staff let us leave our bags as we were too early for check-in. The hotel is clean and rooms have nice touches such as shampoo, conditioner, shower gel etc. The bar prices are good too. You always expect to pay more in a hotel bar, however, this hotel bar is very competitive. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We would stay again for sure!
The staff were super nice and helpful, giving us a warm welcome, tips and directions around Malaga and the option to leave our luggage after checkout. The rooms were great - clean and with everything needed. The location of the hotel was also very good - within walking distance to the Historic centre and right next to train station (where you would arrive from the airport). Definitely would recommend!
Lovely modern hotel in the heart of Malaga. Amazing location, 5-10 mins walking distance to the beach and the old town, near to lots restaurants, bars etc. supermarket at the end of the road. Very clean, modern hotel with friendly staff. Rooftop bar is worth a visit. Breakfast was ok, good variety of food but same food everyday. On a street with restaurant and bars but very quiet, not noisy.
It was extremely clean, renovated, centrally located in the heart of Old Town Malaga. We walked everywhere! And even when we needed to take a taxi to train or airport, the taxi stand was actually right in front of the apartment building. A beautiful beautiful stay and I would definitely come back here if I am making a trip back to Malaga.
The staff especially the receptionists were very friendly and supportive. They checked in early without any extra charge.
The breakfast was good and diverse and worth the price.
The location of the Hotel is incredible. Although it is located in a quiet area, it is close to the old town and beach and many restaurants and bars.
Beautiful small hotel near the beach La Caleta, it is very close to the city center but far enough if you want to avoid noisy crowds of young tourists in the streets at night. Breakfast was great value for money, 10 euros. I highly recommend this place. Another time in Malaga I am staying here.
This is a small boutique hotel with outstanding front desk. Irin and Martha went out of their way to help me out. The facility is clean and the location is perfect, only a short walk to the old town, hop on hop off is just around the corner, with tons of restaurants within the vicinity.
stayed there for 2 nights to explore Malaga historic centre and beach. it was great value for money you can’t find anything cheaper in Malaga staying in the heart of the old town.
the room was simple but more than enough for the purpose, good share bathroom and very quiet at night
Excellent location in the old town of Malaga, any number of coffee shops, tapas bars/restaurants nearby as well as very good on site facilities. Hotel is clean and comfortable and we found our room quiet during the night. Very nice swimming pool on the rooftop.
The breakfast was a mix of cooked and continental and was very good. The location was perfect for Malaga Airport and also the shopping Mall Plaza Mayor. Both just 5 minutes away. It’s down as a 3 star hotel but I would say a bit higher in my opinion.
- very close to the train station where the train from airport stops (10mins to airport) - you can see it from the hotel
- like 20 mins to the old town and 30 mins to the beach (walking)
- nice, new and tidy
- working AC and elevator
The hotel is well located for all Malaga has to offer. On the doorstep of the old town and just a short stroll to the marina and onto the beach. The facilities are good although a shame the rooftop bar wasn’t open.
We stayed for 24 hours, having flown to Malaga from Ireland and then went on to Granada. The hotel was an ideal bsee to explore the city from by foot. The breakfast amazing and 5 star standard.
Palacio Solecio is a beautiful hotel located smack in the center of Malaga old town! It is beautifully decorated and the rooms are beautiful and comfortable. Highly recommended!
The hotel was perfect in every way, it was in a convenient location for both old town Malaga and the port/harbour and there was no shortage of space in the apartment!
