Abbots Mead Hotel, hotel in Shrewsbury

In the heart of Shrewsbury town center, with free private parking and free Wi-Fi, this carefully preserved Georgian townhouse offers, 16 rooms with attached bathroom and a relaxing bar and lounge...

A lovely B&B, nicely decorated and in a great location at the bottom of town not far off the main street and close to several pubs and cafes. Clean and comfortable room, however two flights of stairs to the top floor can be a challenge for the elderly with luggage. Car parking available is a bonus but the limited spaces mean the hosts have to shuffle cars around which we didn't find to be a problem.

To be honest, we made Shrewsbury a stop off point as we travelled to Wales for a weeks cottage holiday. We stopped on the 'way down' and on the 'way back', to break up long journeys. However, from our two half days in Shrewsbury it looks like a place for longer stays. The museum and art gallery were very interesting. The shopping areas were very good, with a good mix of larger names (M&S, Sea Salt, White Stuff ...) and independents. There were many eating places, but obviously we weren't able to make use of all but two in the town, both of which were very good. It looks like a place we will return to!

Shrewsbury is a great town to visit which we do several times a year. Summer time is definitely worth a visit but we go all year round and always enjoy ourselves. Full of history, quirky hotels, bars and restaurants and great for shopping. Umai restaurant is outstanding for us food always delicious. A trip on the river boat highly recommended. Several places to park all within a short distance of the centre.

The town is packed full of historic beautiful biuldings Riverside walk is an absolute must... Town centre to Castlefields especially. The Abbey, castle , and lots of one off shops. Hidden in nooks and crannies are such delights as the old post office the old prison and boutiques. Don't miss The Dingle gardens as you take the walk.

Angela, Natalie, Sam & Tom were all extremely helpful and really made our holiday! My room, Victoria, was really a mini suite and very comfortable. The door locking system made us feel very secure and it was nice to have a separate entrance from the hotel. The included breakfasts were delicious. Easy walk to the station, castle, prison, shops, cafes and the dingle. Overall, The Albert, and Shrewsbury in general, was a great place for our week's stay.

The Abbots Mead Hotel is very well run and has a super location in Shrewsbury with parking. The public areas are spotless as was our bedroom. There is an excellent choice of food at breakfast all cooked to order. The staff we spoke to, front of house and housekeeping, all were very friendly and clearly highly competent at ensuring guest comfort.

This B&B is exceptional. Louise was the most fabulous hostess. The breakfast was divine and so plentiful. The room was as good as any fancy hotel with a large selection of teas. We loved talking to the other guests over breakfast and the location was ideal. A gorgeous walk into Shrewsbury town centre. Thanks, Louise. We will definitely be back!

Accessible location on the ring road of Shrewsbury. The room was spacious and clean: good for a 2 night stay for a father and child. Although nothing special, breakfast provided all that one needs (english breakfast, pastries, fruit, yoghurt and cereals, coffee machine). Great that the hotel gets EV charging facilities on the parking.

Charming hotel set in the centre of Shrewsbury so location is excellent (if a little tricky to find using a sat nav and cobbled one way streets!). Staff were friendly and helpful on arrival, the welcome drink of sherry was very nice and the room was fine. Breakfast was very tasty in the morning.

This hotel is very charming and in a great historic area. The public spaces are beautiful in an antique style. Many famous people have stayed here during the hotel's long history. The rooms and upstairs are a little tired but very comfortable.
